Cor triatriatum

Overview

A rare congenital malformation where the heart has three atria instead of the normal two due to the presence of a separating membrane.

Symptoms

* Extra heart chamber * Rapid breathing * Wheezing * Coughing * Pulmonary congestion * Progressive heart enlargement * High pulmonary artery pressure * Heart murmurs * Generalized edema * Poor oxygenation of body tissues * Tachycardia * Cyanosis * Failure to thrive * Breathing difficulty on exertion * Rapid breathing * Orthopnea * Cough * Irritability * Pulmonary edema * Recurrent hemophthysis * Growth retardation * Enlarged heart
