Overview

A rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs, an unusual face and retarded development.

Symptoms

* Missing arms * Missing legs * Sparse hair * Upward slanting eye slits * Lack of tear duct opening

Causes

- Baldness - Male pattern baldness - Female pattern baldness - Hereditary baldness - Normal aging - Menopause - Nervous hair pulling - usually in children - Excessively tight hair accessories - Excessive shampoo or hair-drying - Childbirth - hair gets stronger during pregnancy and falls out after birth. - Poor diet - High fever - Chronic fever (see Fever) - Excessive dieting - Alopecia
