62nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG)

The 62nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Human Genetics will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California from Tuesday, November 6 through Saturday, November 10, 2012. Registration is required for admittance to all scientific sessions, exhibits, posters, and other meeting events (unless otherwise indicated). The official language of the 62nd ASHG Annual Meeting is English.

The ASHG Annual Meeting is the largest human genetics meeting and exposition in the world. This year’s meeting is expected to attract over 6,000 scientific attendees, plus nearly 200 exhibiting companies. ASHG members and leading scientists from around the world are selected to present their research findings at invited, platform, and poster sessions. Abstracts of work submitted for presentation at the Annual Meeting are published online. ASHG’s Annual Meeting also features a trade show floor that offers attendees the opportunity to view state-of-the-art medical and laboratory equipment, products, services, and computer software designed to enhance human genetics research, teaching, and consultation.

The 2012 Annual Meeting will begin on Tuesday, November 6 at 4:00 pm with the presidential address by Mary-Claire King, entitled “The Scientist as a Citizen of the World.” The scientific program for the next four days will include a plenary session, 24 invited scientific sessions, and 45 platform presentation sessions. The plenary session and platform presentation sessions will comprise more than 400 presentations drawn from submitted abstracts. Thousands of posters will also be on display. In addition, we will present the ASHG Annual Awards, the Gruber Prize, and a Presidential Symposium on “Human Genetics in Contemporary Poetry, Fiction, and Art: How Humanists View our World.” The meeting will conclude on Saturday, November 10 with a closing symposium starting at 12:00 pm on “Present and Future Directions for Human Genetics.” The preliminary 2012 Meeting schedule is now available.
