The International Alkaptonuria Conference taking place in Cambridge on 10-11 January 2011 promises to be an exciting event that will accelerate the quest for a treatment for AKU, the first genetic disease ever discovered.
AKU is a metabolic disorder that causes an extreme form of osteoarthritis. We are the forefront of research into this orphan disease, which could have significant ramifications for other orphan diseases as well as osteoarthritis.
