Lysosomal Disease Network – 10th Annual WORLDSymposium

Lysosomal Disease Network – 10th Annual WORLD Symposium™ 2014

Overview:

The goal of the Lysosomal Disease Network™ (LDN) is to provide an interdisciplinary forum to explore and discuss specific areas of interest, research and clinical applicability related to lysosomal diseases. This symposium is designed to help researchers and clinicians to better manage and understand diagnostic options for patients with lysosomal diseases, identify areas requiring additional basic and clinical research, public policy and regulatory attention, and identify the latest findings in the natural history of lysosomal diseases.

Audience:

This symposium is designed for basic, translational and clinical researchers, patient advocacy groups, clinicians, and all others who are interested in learning more about the latest discoveries and the clinical investigation of these advances.

WORLDSymposium™ Educational Objectives: Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the key diagnostic features of lysosomal diseases
  • Describe recent diagnostic tests
  • Describe the relative advantages and disadvantages of each therapy currently available
  • Identify unmet needs of each disease being discussed
  • Formulate new research ideas for lysosomal diseases

Lysosomes 101 – Fundamentals of Lysosomal Diseases

Lysosomes 101 pre-conference session will provide a foundation for researchers and health care practitioners who are interested in gaining more background on the diagnosis and treatment of lysosomal diseases. Content will cover accepted methods of diagnosis and treatment of the known lysosomal diseases. New and/or ongoing research will not be included in this activity. Lysosomes 101 will be taught at the graduate-student level and is targeted towards people who would like to learn more of the fundamental information that provides the basis for future research and treatments, as well as those who would benefit from a refresher on this topic.

NOTE: Lysosomes 101 half-day session is not included in the WORLDSymposium™ 2014 registration fee. Lysosomes 101 will be offered on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 1pm-5pm at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.
