SALT LAKE CITY, U.T. - Gabriel Low, a 17-year-old triathlete, will be biking across America to raise awareness for a rare disease called HypoKalemic Periodic Paralysis (HKPP), a disease that disrupts potassium levels in cells and causes temporary paralysis.

Low will begin his cross county bike ride on June 11 in Seattle and end in Cleveland, Ohio.

He should be passing through Salt Lake City and Provo on his route.

Low hopes to raise funding and support for research into how exercise can benefit people with HKPP. He also hopes his ride will raise awareness for rare diseases, in an effort to decrease the trend of misdiagnoses and undiagnosed cases.
