A rare autoimmune disease that affects the muscles and various other parts of the body. It involves the development of antibodies to an enzyme (aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase) which is involved in making proteins. It is also associated with interstitial lung disease, dermatomyositis, and polymyositis and other autoimmune diseases.

Antisynthetase Syndrome is an autoimmune disease that is a subcategory of Myositis, which means muscle disease. There are many different areas that Antisynthetase Syndrome affects, however, a few common ones are the muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, and joint pain.
